Local fund-raisers were delighted to be able to give a cancer charity a boost last week after 12 months of hard fund-raising which has gained huge support from the local community.

Tenby Friends of Tenovus presented a cheque for the magnificent sum of £5,500 to the main branch of the charity in Cardiff when they held their annual fork luncheon at New Hedges Village Hall last week.

The funds were raised over the last 12 months from various charity concerts, coffee mornings and collections organised by the Tenby Friends of Tenovus.

The donation will go towards funding a second mobile cancer support unit for the area which can provide cancer screenings closer to home and help Tenovus raise awareness of cancer in local communities and schools.

Last week's luncheon also helped raise over £1,000 to set the Tenby Friends of Tenovus on their way for the next 12 months of fund-raising, with all in attendance thanking everyone for their support.

A concert will also be held tonight (Friday) at 8 pm, at St. Mary's Church in Tenby, in aid of Tenovus, featuring performances from the Griffon Choir and Pembroke Male Voice Choir.
