Tenby-based author John Nicholl’s latest thriller That Day at Rose Cottage is described as a psychological thriller about friendship, survival and revenge.
The novel published by Boldwood (who were acquired recently by RB Media - the world’s largest audiobook company, based in the USA) will be available as an ebook, paperback, hardback, audiobook, and in large print.
“I’ll be launching the book at Waterstones, Carmarthen on October 23, a free event, to which everyone is welcome I’m hoping to do a similar event somewhere closer to my Tenby home,” said John.
“Tenby Library has several of my other books and should have this one too after publication.”
That Day at Rose Cottage is a work of fiction, but the world it explores is painfully real.
John explained: “During my years working in child protection, I met women who had lived with fear, coercion and violence behind closed doors. I saw the courage it could take simply to ask for help, and the devastating consequences when that help came too late, or when the system meant to protect them failed.
“This book grew from a question that stayed with me: what happens when someone who has done everything asked of them, who has reported the abuse and trusted the authorities to keep them safe, discovers that the person they fear most is free to return?
“Ella and Poppy are fictional characters. Their choices are their own. But the anger, fear and frustration that drive them will, I suspect, feel familiar to far too many women.”
That Day at Rose Cottage is a psychological thriller about friendship, survival and revenge. It is also about two women who decide that they will no longer wait for someone else to protect them.
They have been frightened for long enough. Now it’s someone else’s turn.
