A PEMBROKE man stole two bottles of gin from the Co-op and has been fined by Haverfordwest Magistrates Court, as well as being ordered to pay £47.50 in compensation.

Joseph McElroy, of Beaufort Road, appeared in court on Tuesday, July 28. There he pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He had stolen two bottles - one of Sipsmith London Dry Gin and one of Premium Gin, to the value of £47.50 from the Pembroke Co-operative store. The theft had taken place on May 12.

The 30-year-old’s guilty plea was taken into account, and he was fined £40 on top of the compensation.

Costs to Crown Prosecution Service amounted to £85, meaning that the total payable is £172.50.
