At this year's annual general meeting, Tenby United bestowed an honorary life membership on Mike Evans for his outstanding contribution to the club.

Chairman, David Lewis, paid tribute to Mike, not only as an excellent player and captain, but also for his financial support. The well attended annual general meeting approved the notice of motion unanimously.

Earlier in the evening, the chairman had given his assessment of the season. The 1st XV were congratulated for winning the Pembrokeshire Cup and he expressed confidence that under the captaincy of Richard Rossiter and new coaches Gareth Thomas and Sion Brace, they would do well next season. He was also optimistic about the fortunes of the 2nd XV.

He congratulated Youth coaches Mike Lewis and Chris Williams on winning their league and praised Justin Richards, Chris Brace and Catrin Richards for their work with the Swifts.

He noted that Tenby United was one of a small group of clubs that fielded teams from U7s to U16s.

He thanked the executive and members of the main committee for their work, singling out Pat Crockford (treasurer) and Martyn Williams (secretary) for their dedication and expertise on behalf of the club.

He referred to the improvements made at both Heywood Lane and the clubhouse, with special mention being given to the excellent new steward, Dominique.

He made a plea for all members to work together under the banner of Tenby United RFC and urged them to join the club's various sub committees.

Accountant, Ian Badham, of Ashmole and Co, presented the statement of accounts. For the third year in a row, there had been steady progress on the financial front and the accounts indicated a significant increase in profit on the previous year. He also mentioned that the debt owed by the club had been reduced.

In proposing acceptance of the accounts, vice-president, Derek Lloyd, said that the club was moving in the right direction. The accounts were accepted unanimously.

The officers/committee for the forthcoming season will be: president - Mike Fry; chairman - David Lewis; vice-chairman - Ben Childs; treasurer - Pat Crockford; secretary - Martyn Williams; membership secretary - Lorraine Bolton; fixture secretary - Chris Williams; committee -Haydn Wickland, Justin Richards, Derek Lloyd, Steve Swales, Russ Millns, Ben Childs, Tim Roberts, Andreas Jeremias, Steve Vickery, Sion Brace, Mike Lewis, Peter James, Lisa Roberts and Jan Brace.

Secretary, Martyn Williams, listed the pre-season friendlies: August 11 - Crymych (H); August 18 - St. Clears (A); August 25 - Nantyglo (H).

They are all Saturday matches and all kick-off at 2.30 pm.

Membership secretary, Lorraine Bolton, reminded all that membership was now due and remained the same as last season. Adult membership is £20 and vice-presidents £150. Membership of the Swifts is £35.

The chairman reminded all that if people contribute £5 per month to the club's Lottery, this includes full membership of the club.

The secretary expected a huge demand for next season's home internationals against England and Ireland. Vice-presidents are guaranteed tickets. As regards adult and Swifts members, if the demand exceeds supply, then there would be a draw for tickets.

After many lean years, Tenby Utd is now making steady progress on the financial front.

The club is pleased to announce a lucrative five-year deal with brewers Molson Coors and are delighted that Andrew Price will be the club's main sponsor for next season.

Local businesses are urged to support Tenby United through membership, the Lottery, sponsoring matches, kit or match balls. The relevant people to contact are Lorraine Bolton for membership and Tim Roberts for sponsorship.
