CLUB SAILING

Club sailing is on hold whilst the club runs the Firefly National Championships.

Firefly National Championships

Sixty three of these double-handed dinghies arrived at the club last Friday/Saturday and the championship is currently underway. Saturday was the first day of racing: a precursor of Sunday which was wild, gusts of 36 mph being recorded at Pembrey. Monday and Tuesday were challenging with a shifty and gusty north-westerly providing excellent sailing, with quite a bit of sunshine for those ashore.

Races on Wednesday, Thursday and today (Friday) will decide the event, but too late for this week’s paper.

Junior training

There was no junior sailing this week due to the Firefly Championships, but it will take place as usual every Wednesday from August 17, starting at 5 pm.

Club Opening

The club is now operating summer hours, open every day for lunch and evening meal and bar open until late.
