Tenby Golf Club has surely bucked the trend this holiday season as regardless of the wet weather, it has been packed with visitors from all over the country.

The professional, Rhys Harry, reported that there had been no free tee times, with the course having been fully booked since Boxing Day.

Although we have had some interesting water features added to the course, it has not impinged on play.

In fact, many regulars have asked if the water around the 18th could not be a permanent added feature! It surely made for a very interesting last hole!

Sunday was the annual Christmas Charity Mixed, held to raise money for the ladies' charities. This year, they were Ty Hafan, and the Paul Satori Foundation.

The weather may have been grey, showery and squally, but the bright Christmas colours of the outfits worn by many, and the smiles soon made up for it.

The prizes had been generously donated by the captain, Chris Beecher, and his wife, Carol; so all entrance money went to the charity fund. A very successful raffle was also run alongside the golf (with thanks to David Morgan and Laura McQueen for selling the tickets). Altogether £270 was raised for the charities.

So to the business of the golf. Nearest the Pin on the sixth was won by Helen Hughes. Her prize was a practice putting set (could that mean a two next time Helen?). The only two of the day was by Gavin Field-Thomas on the sixth which won him a tidy sum in the Pro Shop.

Just missing out on the prizes with 30 points apiece were Chris and Helen Hughes, and Matt and Ruth Goldwait.

Third prize of Titleist golf towels went to David Morgan and Laura McQueen with 31 points. Second prize of golf shoes went to Tony Key and Georgina Ormond with 32 points. The magnificent first prize, a carry bag each, went to Neil Webb and Maura Rimell with a superb 33 points.

A popular win and Neil made a moving speech to say how grateful he was to the Paul Satori Foundation for the support they gave his wife Claire earlier this year.

Many thanks must also go to the catering staff, Matt behind the bar, and Dave in the kitchen for looking after us so well. It rounded off a most successful day.

Please check the mixed noticeboard (by the back door) for future fixtures. We would love to see some of our new members joining in. Just sign up, you don't have to be invited!

The next competition is Sunday, January 20, when we have a 14-hole Stableford Frostbite competition. We could do with some men signing up!

Then on Saturday, February 16, we have the Valentines Mixed. If you need a partner just sign up and we will endeavour to find you one.
