TENBY UNDER 9S

TOO STRONG FOR NEYLAND

Last Saturday, a large Tenby Under 9s squad (sponsored by Lewis, Lewis & Co. Solicitors) travelled to Neyland. Tenby were able to field three teams, showing what strength in depth they have

During the first game, Tenby started strongly. Iori Badham was first to test the Neyland 'keeper, who pulled off a good save. It wasn't long before the first goal. Archie's header was saved and Oscar was on hand to follow up and open the Tenby account.

Iori created and scored the second when, after a good tackle on the Neyland defender, he regained his footing and slotted past the 'keeper.

During the second half, Tenby played some great football, with Archie and Evan combining well, resulting in Evan's long-range shot going in off the post.

Neyland pulled one back, but it was not long before Evan put Archie through and he placed it past the oncoming 'keeper.

During the second game, William, Dylan and Rhys were rock solid at the back.

With Tenby continuing to drive forward, it was Alfie who added the next with a long-range effort. Within a minute, Alfie added another with a carbon copy goal.

Dylan then got in on the action with another sweet long-range effort, before Finlay rounded the 'keeper and slotted home for another Tenby goal.

Neyland then hit back with two of their own.

During the second half, Tenby added another four goals, with efforts from Rhys, Dylan (2) and Alfie, the latter two completing their hat-tricks.

During the third game, the pattern of play continued, with Tenby dominant throughout. Brandon was creative in midfield and worked well with Harry, Iori Richards and Kyle. Harry added the next and a rare outing for Kyle in midfield saw him get on the score-sheet with a power drive to the top right-hand corner.

In the second half, Harry added a further three goals and Kyle two. The final result being 19-4 to Tenby.

Tenby squad: Kyle Rossiter, Evan Owen, Iori Badham, Oscar Miles, Archie Treadaway-Williams, William Russell, Dylan Duffy, Rhys Richards, Alfie Evans, Finlay Drummond, Iori Richards, Harry Malone and Brandon Phillips.

Tenby U10s

After the previous weekend's fixture was cancelled due to the weather, Tenby Under 10s were eager to get out and play in this home fixture against Neyland.

The week's rest seemed to have benefited the boys who arguably played their best football of the season in sticky conditions.

From the very off, they were first to the ball and quick and determined in getting forward playing some nice football and established a two-goal lead at the end of the first quarter.

In recent weeks, there have been two or three stand-out players, but credit to the whole team on this occasion as they all performed very well and had it not been for some resolute defending and goalkeeping, the scoreline could have been significantly more in Tenby's favour.

Both Ned and Teejay had work to do in their goalkeeping roles and kept another clean sheet; they were well protected by big George and Harry, who have established a near telepathic understanding in their partnership.

Both Will and Ifan, two intelligent players, took it in turns to play at the base of the diamond formation protecting the back two and got forward really well when they could.

The wide players of Charlie and Archie had a really busy day as the team looked to get the ball wide at every opportunity. A great lay-off from Finnan set-up Charlie for a screamer of an opening goal. Both Kurt and Kian are proving to be great utility players, playing in lots of positions and looking comfortable in all. Kian yet again produced another very cool finish.

A comfortable win in the end, with Charlie, Fin, Kian and Archie finding themselves on the scoresheet and the crossbar being peppered in a 10-0 win. Credit to Neyland, who, despite the onslaught, played some neat football at times and never gave up.

This weekend, the boys travel to Haverfordwest Cricket Club hoping to repeat last season's win there.
