Temporary road closures and restrictions to facilitate the annual Long Course Weekend in Tenby and its surrounding areas will be in place again next month - although a redesigned course has been introduced for the cycling event taking place on the Saturday, Pembrokeshire County Council has stated.
Each summer, Pembrokeshire plays host to one of Wales’ most iconic endurance events. Athletes from around the world descend on Tenby for three unforgettable days of sport, spirit, and scenery
Long Course Weekend will be held this year from Friday, June 26, starting with the Wales swim on Tenby’s North Beach from 5pm.
Saturday, June 27 will see the Cycle Sportive take place; followed by the marathon event on Sunday, June 28.
A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire Council shared: “As in previous years it will be necessary to introduce a number of traffic restrictions on the Saturday and Sunday to enable both the sportive and marathon to take place in a safe environment.

“The Croft and a section of the Norton (White Lion Street to The Croft) will be temporarily closed on the Friday evening between 4.30 and 6.30pm, in the interest of public safety due to possible thronging of spectators watching the swim event. Access to properties on The Croft will be managed.
“A redesigned course has been introduced for the cycle sportive, requiring a minimal number of closures/one way restrictions across the wider county area.

“The start and finish on both Saturday and Sunday is from the Salterns car park [in Tenby], with full road closures implemented on a rolling basis for the Marathon on the Sunday.”
Road closures will be carried out on a rolling programme, with the roads re-opening following the last athlete and when it is safe to do so.
