New Hedges/Saundersfoot United's charity night garnered overwhelming support from the community, raising money for local charities with guest of honour Shane Williams.

The fundraiser held on Saturday, June 6 at the Regency Hall, was the third occasion the Club has hosted such a fundraising event, with ex-Wales and British Lions rugby player Shane Williams the celebrity sports star this time.

A spokesperson for NHSU shared: “The support shown by our community was truly overwhelming. From purchasing tickets, raffle tickets and auction items, to simply turning up and creating such a wonderful atmosphere, your generosity and support were remarkable!

“Events like this simply wouldn't be possible without the support of our local community, sponsors, volunteers and supporters. We are incredibly grateful. Thank you all for being part of such a special evening.

“A special thank you must go to our guest speaker, Shane Williams. Not only is he one of the greatest rugby players Wales has ever produced, but he was an absolute gentleman throughout the evening.

“His humility, honesty and willingness to spend time with everyone in attendance perfectly demonstrated why he is so respected both on and off the field.

“We would also like to thank the brilliant Lenny Dee, who once again had the room in stitches from start to finish.”

A heartfelt thank you also went to Marty Jones from Sandy Bear Children's Bereavement Charity who spoke passionately about the incredible work the charity does.

They continued: “To everyone who donated raffle prizes, auction items, services and vouchers, thank you. Your kindness and generosity played a huge part in the success of the evening.

“While we are still finalising the figures, we are hopeful that a significant amount of money has been raised in support of Maxwell Family Genomics Fund and Sandy Bear.”
