Every year it is the lady captain's privilege to hold a Charity Day for the charity of her choice. This year's lady captain, Lynne Rees, chose the Paul Satori Foundation, being close to her heart as they were of tremendous help for her mother Davina Evans towards the end of her life in 2002. A very worthy cause!

Open to gents and ladies, members and visitors alike, it attracted around 90 players, a very good turnout indeed. Maybe the weather had something to do with it. A day of beautiful wall to wall sunshine, couldn't have wished for more... the hours of bending down on your knees certainly paid off Lynne!

Thanks must go to Heineken, who supplied the beer, which was a very welcome sight on the 14th. Thanks also to the volunteers who managed the stand!

The course was in fantastic condition for the competition and thanks must go to Barry, his staff and volunteers!

Obviously this helped towards some brilliant scoring as the results will show.

Gents: Division One - 1. Peter Balkwill 41 pts; 2. Danny Overend 40; 3. Spencer Harries 40. Division Two - 1. Keith Leverton 44 pts; 2. Simon Davies 42; 3. Ken Smith 41.

Ladies: Division One - 1. Ria Phillips 39 pts; 2. Chris Watkins (Neath) 38; 3. Pat Roblin (Haverfordwest) 36. Division Two - 1. Sue Harries 42 pts; 2. Ann Lloyd (Haverfordwest) 31; 3. Jayne Lewis 31 pts

The gents longest drive was won by Spencer Harries and nearest the pin was Danny Overend

The ladies longest drive was Karen Parry (Neath) and nearest the pin was Anita Davies

There were four 2s: Harold James, Spencer Harries, Danny Overend, Jeremy Rixon.

As is customary, a trophy was also presented to the Best South Pembs Lady, which was Sue Harries with 42 pts. Well done Sue!

All prize winners received prizes donated by members, local businesses and companies, who were very generous indeed. All fantastic, the prizes included days out to various local attractions, stay and play golf days, restaurant vouchers; in fact, there were too many to mention them all individually.

A big thank you must go to the following for these donations: Silcox Coaches, Valero, Bluestone, Robert Ryder, Heatherton, King's Arms, Dorina's, Folly Farm, Vincent Davies, Celtic Wines, Richard Rees, Carole Blackwell, Dinosaur Park, Lynne Rees, Miss Designer Golf and Brinley Brown.

Monetary donations were also received from Woodenbale, Carew Patios and many members who were unable to play that day.

A very successful raffle was also held with many donating the prizes.

After playing golf, it was great to sit down and have a lovely meal - a big thank you to Janet Norrie, our caterer, as always a most enjoyable dinner.

After the winners received their well-deserved prizes, it was time to come to the part that was the reason for the Charity Day. Representing Paul Sartori was Sara Alderman, who gave a very interesting insight to all the good work the Foundation does within the community, after which lady captain Lynne Rees presented her with a cheque for a magnificent £2,000, though the final total went up slightly to £2024.50. Well done to all!

The evening was rounded off nicely with a few drinks, some music and dancing and a lot of laughter.

Thank you for a most enjoyable and worthy day Madam Captain!
