THREE yachts had their first race on Friday evening as the cruiser racing season got underway at Tenby Sailing Club.

A short course from Waterwynch to the outer Eastern mark and back to the finish near Second Point was set. Result: 1 Slipstream; 2 Apatshe; 3 Seren.

Dinghy Racing

Dan Jackson and his helpers were successful in laying four marks between Tenby and Monkstone for dinghies and cruisers to set racing courses throughout the sailing season.

Good conditions on Saturday, April 18th made it possible to sail two races

Six boats entered race one and five in race two.

First place in each race went to Ben Dancer in his Phantom, and two second places went to Dan Jackson and Matt Goldwait in Osprey 1380.

Race 1: 3, Howard Yeates, ILCA7; 4, Steve Popple, ILCA7; 5, Igor Otahal, ILCA6; 6, Julian Cumpsty and Michelle James RS200.

Race 2: 3, Igor; 4, Howard; 5, Julian and Michelle.

Junior Training

31 youngsters have enrolled for the sessions every Wednesday evening from 5pm. Terry’s legendary Barbecue follows on to satisfy their inner needs.

Clubhouse

The Top Deck has been offered to the Tenby Chess Club for Chess evenings every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm. All chess players are welcome.
