Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held the Caldey Cup, sponsored by Argosy restaurant, of Saundersfoot, on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather report was such that the Caldey boats would not run, the match was held over several beach marks as a result. Most anglers chose Tenby North Beach - convenient - which proceeded to show several species of fish!

Results were: 1. Tony O'Neill with a Smoothhound of 2.4Kg (£100, Argosy Shield and 10 club points); 2. Andrew Rogers with heaviest bag of 1.355Kg (£50 and eight points); 3. Leigh Rogers with bag of 1.222Kg - beaten by his son, again - (£25 and six points); 4. Gareth Protheroe with a Bass of 963g (four points).

The Golden Peg details were not provided.

The number of people returning to the weigh-in is reducing - please make the effort to attend the weigh-in even if you catch no fish otherwise sponsors won't realise how many anglers actually supported the match! If you read these reports and wish to join the club, whether novice, junior or experienced, please contact Tony Ormond on 07973 332215.

Leaderboard at end of May: 1. Llewellyn Rose and Leigh Rogers (32 points); 3. Tony Ormond (30); 4. Andrew Rogers (28); 5. George Barritt (25). Every match this year maintains its record of having a different winner.

It is SSAC policy that all rovers must be fished in pairs or more, never alone.
