HAVERFORDWEST County have confirmed that manager Tony Pennock has committed his future to the club, signing a new contract extension that will keep him at the Bridge Meadow until at least 2029.
Pennock first arrived in the summer of 2022 and has since presided over the most successful spell in the club’s history.
His tenure has already delivered two European campaigns, in 2023 and 2025, marking a period of unprecedented progress for the Bluebirds. The defining moment of that era remains the unforgettable victory over KF Shkëndija at Cardiff City Stadium in July 2023 — the club’s first-ever win in a European qualifying tie.
The manager had previously agreed a one‑year extension in November 2024, taking him through to the end of the 2026–27 season. This latest deal, however, secures his leadership for at least two further years as the club continues to build on the foundations laid during his time in charge.
Pennock is now closing in on his 150th match at the helm, a milestone he is set to reach when Haverfordwest travel to Bala Town on Friday 20 March. His influence on the squad, both on and off the pitch, has been widely acknowledged, and the club is eager to continue its upward trajectory under his guidance.
Reflecting on the new deal, Pennock said: “I’m extremely grateful to Rob for giving me the opportunity to extend my time at this great club. With exciting developments happening, I’m looking forward to overseeing the transition into a hybrid club.
“Our focus remains on the 2025-26 season, as we have a number of tough games ahead of us. With that said, there is extensive work happening in the background in preparation for next season.
“With the continued support of Rob, the Board, Beccy, Waggy and all the staff, I’m sure we can all enjoy and create many more memorable achievements. The last three and a half years have proven to be the most successful in the club’s history, and we want to create more.”
The announcement came shortly before Haverfordwest secured a valuable 2–0 victory away at Briton Ferry Llansawel in the JD Cymru Premiership Conference on Friday evening.
Striker Ben Ahmun continued his excellent run of form, scoring his 14th goal of the season with a stoppage‑time finish to seal the win. Dan Hawkins had earlier broken the deadlock just before the hour mark, and the Bluebirds showed resilience and composure to see out what could prove to be a crucial result in their push for a seventh‑place finish.
Ahmun, who has now scored four times in his last seven appearances, was pleased to keep his momentum going.
He said: “That’s 14 now in all competitions. I’m enjoying it. I think probably the last eight games, 10 games, I’ve been on a good run in terms of goals and assists, so I’m just trying to keep that going.
“I didn’t think it was going to come today, to be fair. I thought I probably deserved one and at the end it came, thank God, Ows set me up.
“But I think not just myself, I think we’ve been a lot better as of late in terms of creating and scoring goals than we were at the start of the season, which again makes a big difference.”
