HARRY Peniket stole the spotlight for Carew as the 17‑year‑old struck in both halves to help his side sweep aside bottom‑placed Kilgetty in emphatic fashion in their Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One clash.
Jack Christopher’s team are gathering real momentum, with this latest victory extending their winning run to four matches and lifting them up to eighth in the table.
With another weekend of grim weather forcing the fixture onto the Pembroke Leisure 3G pitch, The Rooks adapted quickly and took full control.
They dominated the opening 45 minutes, racing into a commanding 5–0 lead. Peniket set the tone early, reacting quickest when Sam Christopher’s effort was blocked and burying the rebound.
Moments later, Christopher doubled the advantage in unusual fashion — keeper Kurtis Marsh’s attempted clearance cannoned off the striker and flew straight into the net.
Carew’s confidence only grew. Peniket turned provider next, delivering a pinpoint cross for captain James Hinchliffe, who dispatched a tidy 12‑yard volley for 3–0.
Slick build‑up play then carved out another opening, finished coolly by Jonty Bennett as he passed the ball beyond Marsh from 20 yards.
Veteran forward Marcus Griffiths rounded off a superb first half with a trademark free‑kick, curling a precise effort from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.
The second half was a tighter affair, but Carew still found room to add to their tally. Midway through the half, Griffiths and Peniket combined neatly, allowing the teenager to slot home his second of the afternoon with a composed left‑footed finish.
Kilgetty captain Richard Cope grabbed a late consolation from a corner, and the visitors also struck both post and crossbar, but the damage had long been done.
Carew were full value for their three points, delivering a dominant, confident performance that keeps their upward trajectory firmly intact
