Frost Bite Series
Decent sunny conditions prevailed for Frostbite races four and five last Sunday with just enough wind for pleasant sailing. Race officers Paul Griffiths and Tom Owen set a Pendine, Monkstone, harbour course for the first race giving a good beat on the starting leg which doesn't often happen. Seven started including four Solos with most completing two laps and one retiring. After handicap adjustments, David Plester (Solo) took the win with Paul Johnson (Solo) second, Peter Bower (Phantom) third and Chris Bannister (Blaze) fourth.
The breeze had backed slightly for the second - I always confuse 'backing', which is when the wind direction changes in an anti-clockwise direction, and 'veering' which is a clockwise change - but in this case it definitely backed! Diligent as ever, the race officers altered the starting beat to Amroth retaining a broad reach to Monkstone and a close reach back to harbour. This time, Peter came first, with David second just 30 seconds behind, Paul third with Chris fourth.
Martin Tudor provided patrol cover and kept his cigarettes dry! (reference to his Ironman Award last week).
There is one Frostbite race this Sunday at 3 pm.
Darts
Our intrepid darts team achieved a whitewash result last Friday - yes, achieved not suffered! Well perhaps this is slightly coloured reporting as it was because Tenby RFC were unable to take part, but with our record we're happy to take any victory on offer!
All hands on deck for tonight (Friday) when members' support for the local derby against Tenby SC would be appreciated. Darting commences around 8.30 pm and it is bound to be a well-contested and enjoyable evening.
Cruisers Lift Out
Kelpie's new lifting rig appeared on the harbour side last Monday, but some modifications were needed for the tractor unit. It is anticipated at time of writing that lift out may commence on Thursday (yesterday). Berth holders will be notified by Kelpies, but if anyone has pressure from insurance requirements or other reasons for urgency they should contact Kelpies on 01646 683661.
Clubhouse Activities
The clubhouse is open every Friday from around 8.30 pm and members are warmly invited to join the regular relaxed social gathering. Tonight (Friday) there is added stimulus as we are hosting neighbours Tenby Sailing Club for darts. Do come and join us.
The next major event is the Laying Up Supper at 7.30 pm on Saturday, November 17. Please book food with Rob on 814424 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
