The competitive outdoor bowling season started in earnest last Saturday with male and female members taking to the green.
For the men it was an away trip to Milford Haven for their first Carruthers Shield Welsh cup match which saw them run out winners by three shots.
Lou Brace led for captain Joe Dennis on rink one with Mike Carr second and Selwyn Price third.
Up against a Gareth Barrett led team, the scores were level on six occasions and it came as no surprise that the final result was a draw with both sides scoring fourteen shots.
On rink two, Berwin Dennis skipped Dai Davies, Mike Oliver and Paul Blayney against the returning Lee Hughes after a sabbatical of six years.
Here too the teams were evenly matched with the Saundersfoot boys running out winners by the narrowest of margins, nineteen shots to eighteen.
Rink three was their only defeat with Roy Harris, Allan Keating, Neil Hensman and skip Steve Dick losing out to the Tony Barnes four by twenty-four shots to sixteen.
In the absence of several players, Brian Desmond moved up to skip on rink four and with Paul Sneyd, Wynford Evans and Alan Brain and gained the best result of the day defeating Tony Ellyatt by twenty- two shots to twelve.
On Sunday, they have another away cup fixture at Neyland.
Meanwhile three of the ladies section - Kath Blayney, Sandra Ingerson and Sue Roden competed in the annual Pendine Triples tournament and did well in the all day event, finishing runners up to the Whitland trio of Katie Dickinson, Kathy Jenner and Cally Jones.
