TENBY United RFC lifted the Pembrokeshire Cup with a 28–19 victory over Aberaeron at Whitland on Saturday, underlining their quality with a composed and clinical display in a high‑tempo final.

The Division 1 West runners-up showed why they are among the region’s strongest sides, responding impressively to early pressure from Aberaeron to seize control of the contest at key moments.

Aberaeron started brightly, enjoying territory and possession, and took the lead when Ellis Trigg powered over. But Tenby wasted little time in hitting back, their powerful forward pack driving from a lineout for No. 8 Dan Colley to score, with Lloyd Thomas adding the conversion to swing momentum their way.

Tenby then took firm control early in the second half with two decisive scores. First, Thomas finished under the posts after capitalising on a handling error, before a fortunate bounce from a kick allowed wing Jordan Asparassa to gather and cross. Both were converted, stretching Tenby’s lead to 21–5 and putting them firmly in command.

Although Aberaeron responded with a well-worked try from Gethin Jenkins, Tenby’s discipline and physicality continued to set the tone. Even when reduced to 14 players following a high tackle, they held their shape well under pressure.

Their forward strength proved decisive once again in the closing stages, with second row Luke Dedman crashing over after sustained carries to effectively seal the win.

Aberaeron had the final say with a second try for Jenkins, but the outcome was never seriously in doubt as Tenby closed out the game professionally.

It was a deserved triumph for Tenby United, with prop Hywel Baker singled out for a dominant display, capping a performance that highlighted their credentials ahead of next season.
