TENBY Golf Club’s Ladies Section came together on Thursday, 7 May for the Lady Captain’s Charity Day, held in support of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Captain Helen Hughes said: “It was a day filled with sunshine, generosity, laughter, and more than a few emotional moments as my sister and I remembered our Mum, who lived with Alzheimer’s before she passed away.”

The competition format was a Team of 3 Texas Scramble, made more entertaining by the challenge of using only three clubs and a putter. Despite the restrictions, the scoring was impressive and the spirit even better.

A nearest the line on the 7th and nearest the pin on the 17th were also held, both hotly contested and adding to the fun.

Helen added: “A special thank you to our greenkeepers, who keep the course in tip-top condition, even if some of us insist on redecorating the bunkers. Their early-morning work never goes unnoticed.

“Huge thanks also to Beth, Guto and the whole team in the 19th, whose continued hard work keeps everything running smoothly while we swan about with golf clubs.”

Results: 1, Dinah Reed, Wendy Allen, Louise Hill and Hilary Yates; 2, Diana Dredge, Sarah Mansbridge and Ruth Goldwait; 3, Carol Beecher, Trish Thomas, Mandy Jones

Nearest the Pin (17th): Heather Bucket – an impressive 78 cm

Nearest the Line (7th): Dinah Reed

Prizes included golf balls from the pro shop and gift vouchers for LÔTH Tenby

Helen added: “We also received raffle donations throughout the month, and I’m so grateful to everyone who contributed so kindly.

“The winner of the Spring Hamper was our very own Marion Clarke, a much-loved member of Tenby Golf Club.

“Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised an amazing £750 for the Alzheimer’s Society, plus further donations made through my JustGiving page – a wonderful total that will support families affected by dementia.”
