Defending Division One league champions Cresselly will be celebrating the club's 125th anniversary this season.

Club chairman Roly Edwards said: "Cresselly Cricket Club will be 125-years-old this year, having been formed on May 6, 1887.

"I have the original minute book in my possession and the first minutes can be seen on the club website. We actually missed our 100th year as the minute book only came to light in Cresselly House about 20 years ago.

"The first of a number of events being planned will be a 125th Anniversary Players' Reunion this (Friday) evening at 7.30 for 8 pm.

"We have been very successful in contacting former players and expect a turnout of over 100 on the evening. Unfortunately, our oldest member, Sidney Seager, who played in the first Harrison-Allen Final in 1949, will not be able to attend due to ill health. However, we are expecting many stars from the 1950s and 1960s, including Pembroke County Cricket Club president Dave Morris, who played in 16 Harrison-Allen Bowl Finals - his first being in 1952 when over 600 runs were scored. That game was won by Narberth.

"Others expected from the 1960s sides include Gwyn Llewellyn, Trevor Griffiths, Hugh John, Carey D'Arcy, Nigel and Marcus Soar, Geoffrey Griffiths, Brian Diment, John Arthur, Glyn Cole, Selwyn Cole, Peter James, Denis and Trevor Chiffi, Philip James, Haydn Mathias, Malcolm Tucker, Ashley Skyrme and, of course, Maurice Cole.

"From more recent times we are hoping that Dan Cherry, Charles Dale and Simon Hart will be able to come, despite their very busy careers.

"It should be a great evening as many will not have seen each other for very many years.

"Any cricketer who has played for us at any level is invited to come along on the evening and we will everything possible to make it a memorable occasion."
