Pembroke Dock Quins 3 pts.
Milford Haven 53
The Quins, after a bright opening in which they took the lead through a penalty kicked by centre Danny Brooks after five minutes, soon succumbed to a far bigger and physical Mariners side.
After 10 minutes, flanker and captain James Passmore led by example and touched down in the corner for the visitors.
Outside-half Efan Morgan missed the conversion, but minutes later, it was the turn of hooker Justin Griffiths to touch down and this time Morgan converted to put his side 10-3 up.
On the half-hour, fullback Rhys Baker added his side's third try after a fine flowing move which was converted by Morgan.
The Quins, though, responded and were unlucky not be awarded a try when fullback Chris Harries crossed the whitewash to touchdown wide out, but was called back for a dubious knock-on.
The Mariners, however, soon grabbed the all-important bonus point when second row Tom Manning powered over under the posts for a converted try and just before half-time Baker added his second with a try wide out which went unconverted to send the visitors in 29-3 at the break.
The second half proved no better for the Quins, although they stuck to their task well as the Mariners upped the ante.
Centre Jimmy Thomas scored his side's sixth try, which was unconverted, and this was followed by tries for right wing Lee Riley, which was converted by Ethan Morgan, a second for Jimmy Thomas and a final try for number eight Aiden Laxton to round off the scoring.
Quins' flanker Stefan Halwood went off injured with 10 minutes to go and it was to their credit that, despite being down to 14 players, they did not concede any more points.
The Quins stuck bravely to their task throughout the match, despite being disrupted by late withdrawals, work commitments, a long injury list and a number of players playing out of position.
Quins team: Chris Harries, Martin Culley, Danny Brooks, Garth Spure, George James, Nathan George, Dean Wilcox, Stefan Hallwood, Alex Pierce, Alex Jeffries, Gethin Harries, Josh White, Josh Boswell, Jake Newman and Chris Lowe.
