Saundersfoot Sports Club (sponsored by LG Leisure Ltd) played host to the Waterloo Club from Hakin on Monday evening in the quarter-final of the Jimmy Allan Cup, and were 249-170 winners (aggregate score).
The first frame (singles) saw captain Glyn Davies play C. Hughes. Glyn was in superb form, potting brilliantly and securing the frame by 83 points.
The second frame (doubles) saw Dean Ludlow and Martin Durham play R. and D. Hughes. Dean and Martin started well, opening up a small lead. However, this frame got a little bogged down midway through, before Dean and Martin again kicked on to prevail by 14 points and extend the Saundersfoot lead to 97.
The second singles saw Mark Cleevely play P. Davies. Mark struggled early on and the frame was fairly even throughout - that is until the colours, when Mark picked off the important balls to win by 28 and increase the Saundersfoot advantage to a healthy 125 points.
The final doubles saw debutant Wayne John and Darren Morgan play M. Hartley and S. Dalton. Wayne and Darren struggled throughout this scrappy frame, having no luck, and were eventually defeated by 46 points.
Nevertheless, Saundersfoot will still go into the second leg away next week with a useful lead of 79.
