Swimmers of thE Month October

Owen Thomas - who was selected by the coaches for his positive attitude towards training and always trying his hardest. If a coach asks him to do something or try something new, there is never any complaints! Well done Owen, Keep it up!

Joshua Silcox (Water Dragons) - who was selected by the coaches due to the huge improvement in his swimming. He has improved technically on each stroke and the coaches can see all his efforts are paying off! Well done Joshua!

Llanelli Open Meeting

This was the first gala of the season and a team of 10 swimmers from Tenby were entered. The day was quite long and every swimmer had a busy day's schedule.

After nearly three months without racing and a good summer and early autumn training programme behind them, poolside coaches, Maria Thomas, Gary O'Neill and Paul Haley had high expectations for the Tenby team.

The swimmers performed well throughout the day -demonstrating some great technical work from dives, turns and some impressive underwater work. Every swimmer achieved at least one personal best through the day - but the lack of racing was evident, as nearly all the swimmers seemed a little bit off 'race pace'.

There were a few exceptions. Morgan Grieve had an excellent meet, with seven out of eight personal bests - he managed a haul of six medals - one gold (100m IM), four ailvers (50m fly, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m front crawl) and one bronze (100m backstroke).

Arabella Haley also swam well, accumulating one silver (100m front crawl) and three bronze (100m backstroke, 100m IM and 50m breaststroke).

Charlotte O'Neill, swimming in the 'B' division, had a brilliant afternoon session, producing three personal bests and picking up two gold medals for her efforts in 50m backstroke and the 100m fly.

The Tenby team achieved a total of 28 personal bests out of 74 swims - not bad considering it was the first gala of the season

Pembrokeshire County Swimming Closed Championships 2012

On October 20 and 21, a team of 42 swimmers from the club participated in this year's County Championships at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.

It was great to see so many new faces at this gala - especially from our Water Dragons - namely Halle Brace, Ella Warren-Stock, Hope Yeates, Caitlin Rees, Ameya Neye, Dylan Morgan, Harry Thomas, Archie Dilks, Jayden Keane and Olwen Evans.

It was also great to see some of our established county swimmers in action. There were some outstanding swims from Dan Davies, Hannah Saunders, Talia Merriman, Ffion Davies and Hazel Fox, who produced a huge collection of medals between them.

The rest of the Tenby squad also performed well, producing plenty of pb's and collecting plenty of medals for their efforts. The team included: Tilly O'Neill, Arabella Haley, Alanya Thomas, Tia Brace, Emily Dilks, Lillie Murray-Coller, Lauren Roberts, Katie Hicks, Jemma Hurds, Charlotte O'Neill, Lauren Watkins, Ashleigh Willars, Rhiana Galvin, Tesni Galvin, Niamh Slack, Harrison Cole-Picton, Lloyd Thomas, Aidan Howitt, Billy Greenwood, Jack Rees, Noah Yeates, Caleb O'Neill, George Greenwood, Luke Dedoncker, Harry Kemp and Owen Yhomas.

Notable achievements over the weekend were:

Hazel Fox was in outstanding form, swimming to nine gold medals and one silver.

Harrison Cole-Picton won all of his races in the 10 and under category, claiming seven gold medals for his efforts.

Hannah Saunders medalled in all of her races - two golds, five silvers and three bronzes for her efforts.

Dan Davies showed some impressive form also - winning all three of his races in fast times.

Caitlin Rees, in the eight and under category, swam well and claimed one gold, one silver and 4 bronzes.

Dylan Morgan claimed one gold and two silvers.

The rest of the medallists were - Katie Hicks (five silvers and one bronze); Jemma Hurds (one silver and two bronze); Arabella Haley (one silver and one bronze); Alanya Thomas (one silver); Ella Warren-Stock (two silvers); Ffion Davies (one silver); Owen Thomas (three bronzes) and claiming one bronze each were Ashleigh Willars, Luke Dedoncker, Noah Yeates, Archie Dilks and Lloyd Thomas.

Well done to the Tenby team - keep up the good work in training and well done to all the coaches and parents who helped poolside as well as with the officiating.

Sponsorship

On Thursday, October 18, two of our local sponsorship partners visited the pool to present various Tenby Dolphins team members with the kit they had kindly sponsored.

Tenby based mechanical engineering company, Celvac Ltd., kindly donated sponsorship funds to enable the club to purchase tracksuits and shorts for members of the Junior and Senior squads.

Nigel Beynon (of Celvac) is seen above with the coaches and Tenby Dolphins squad members looking very smart in their club colours.

The committee would like to thank the executives at Celvac for their kind support of the club; this is very much appreciated.

Local tourist attraction Battlefield Live (Pembrokeshire) kindly sponsored new swimming hats for the club, which have the club logo emblazoned on one side and the 'Battlefield Live' logo on the reverse side.

Pictured below are the coaches, squad members and Toria from Battlefield Live (Pembrokeshire) who kindly sponsored the team hats.

The committee would like to thank Toria and Steve for their kind support of the club; again this is very much appreciated.

The kit was worn by various members of the squad at the recent Pembrokeshire County Championships.
