Results from last Sunday were as follows:
Under 7s and U8s mixed - v Crymych, won eight tries to nil.
Under 9s - v Crymych, lost nine tries to five.
Under 11s - v Crymych, won 38-5. The Under 11s played Crymych Under 11s on a blustery Sunday morning at Bierspool.
Crymych, with the wind behind them, had the better of the first five minutes, with continuous attacking play, but the Quins were strong in defence and prevented any attack being converted into points.
The Quins gradually started to work the breakdown to secure good ball, and from this they released Alex Smith to score the game's first try.
Crymych came back at the Quins with some good running moves, but the Quins were resolute in defence, working as a team, with all players tackling well.
Turnover ball saw David Roberts surge forward and good support play and hands from Lewis Hunter released Morgan Bamford, who scored his first try with a determined charge over the line. Another good run from Morgan Owens scored the Quins' third try, before Kieran Smith scored the fourth.
Euan McDonald did well to convert two out of the four into a very strong head wind, to make the half-time score 24-0.
Playing with the wind behind them in the second half, the Quins made wholesale changes, using all squad players. Again, Rhys Spencer and Eljay Taylor were tackling hard and taking some big hits.
Quick ball from the ruck saw Kobey Thomas charge at the Crymych defence, and his strong running beat all defenders, shaking off a couple of tackles, to score a very good try in the corner.
Kobey then ran in another try, before Crymych scored late on from open play to make the final score 38-5 to the Quins.
This was a well-contested game against a good Crymych side, so well done to the young Quins squad.
Under 12s - v Crymych, lost 28-5.
Under 13s - v Crymych, lost 50-0.
Under 15s - v Crymych, lost 10-0. After nine weeks weather bound without a game, the Quins Under 15s travelled north to face the Mountain Men of Crymych. The weather was once again not at its best, with a strong southerly wind and heavy downpours making the going very tough.
The Quins travelled light, with only 16 players available, due to injuries and holidays, and had to make adjustments in the scrum to accommodate.
The pitch at Crymych was very boggy, to say the least, which suited the Crymych pack, who were a shade lighter and a little more match-fit than the Quins lads.
The game started with a series of tough forward exchanges and some stout tackling shown by all. Crymych were awarded a penalty under the posts and duly opted to kick the goal.
With both teams battling hard in the heavy and wet conditions, the first half stayed at 3-0 to Crymych.
The Quins had to again reshuffle their side when the gutsy Blake Hughes took a nasty knock to the eye and, with only one forward substitute, they had to move out Jordan Davies into the backline for his first time.
Joe Gray came on to show his team-mates that he has not lost that front row form that we have become so used to and put in a great second half.
The Quins lads battled hard, but the lack of competitive game time showed as Crymych were a little more street-wise at the breakdown.
Crymych made a break in midfield and a rare missed tackle left a gap for their pacey centre to cross the whitewash. The conversion was slotted and the final whistle sounded, with the score 10-0 to Crymych.
Well done to both teams for a gutsy tough battle in some very challenging conditions.
And finally, well done to all the teams.
