The Long Course Weekend returns to Pembrokeshire with over 11,000 athletes, 35,000 supporters from 56 nations, ready to compete over three days.

Each summer, Pembrokeshire plays host to one of Wales’ most iconic endurance events. Athletes from around the world descend on Tenby for three unforgettable days of sport, spirit, and scenery.

Athletes compete across three disciplines over the course of a weekend, picking the distances that suit them best.

Temporary road closures and restrictions to facilitate the annual Long Course Weekend in Tenby and its surrounding areas will be in place for the marathon on Sunday - although a redesigned course has been introduced for the cycling event taking place on the Saturday, Pembrokeshire County Council has stated.

A changed route this year sees the cycling event miss out Saundersfoot, and its famous ‘Heartbreak Hill’

The organisation ‘Love Saundersfoot’ shared: “This year’s The Long Course Weekend taking place this weekend will no longer be routed through Saundersfoot during bike day.

“All visitors to the area are very much welcome to the village where roads and parking will open.

“We wish Long Course Weekend and all competitors all the very best on the new bike course and hope everyone enjoys this fantastic event.”

In fact, there will no road closures at all for Saturday’s cycling event for 2026, with the challenge taking place on open roads.

Activity Wales Events, the organisers of LCW shared: “The year, all LCW Wales bike routes will take place on open public roads. There will be no road closures for the bike section.

“Whilst the roads are open, please avoid them if possible, as certain times they can be very congested.

“We kindly ask all drivers to allow extra time for journeys to be patient when travelling behind cyclists.”
