TENBY and Trefloyne Golf Clubs recently hosted the AJO Memorial on consecutive Saturdays.
Arthur Ormond MBE was the managing editor of the Tenby Observer and the competition involving both clubs is held in his memory.
The famous links were in an excellent overall condition for the first leg at Tenby. However, the weather was extremely tough – a very strong easterly gale plus some rain. Nevertheless, the turnout was good in view of the circumstances.
Arthur’s Grandson, Sam Ormond, led the field with 40pts. George Taylor came in with 39pts and Neil Webb with 38pts.
In fact, in view of the conditions, the scoring was generally good with 32 competitors coming in with at least 30pts.
The weather was much better albeit a stiff breeze blew throughout the day for the second leg at Trefloyne.
