THE hot weather with a lack of wind made for a slow start for the 42 dinghy racing entrants to Coppet Week, the annual regatta held at Saundersfoot Sailing Club

The racing began on Wednesday and by Friday, three races and a pursuit race were sailed in excellent conditions.

The overall winner was Merlin Rocket 3787 from Bartley Sailing Club (Birmingham), sailed by Chris Martin and Cillian Dyne.

Six Tenby boats took part with Robin Wood taking second place in Europe 444, with Dave Griffiths and Maurice Clarke in Osprey 1365 finishing third.

Dan Jackson and Matthew Goldwait were 6th in Osprey 1380.

The final race was a pursuit race, won by Osprey 1380, and Osprey 1365 in second place.

Three dinghies sailed in a depleted entry at Tenby Sailing Club on Saturday, but Robin Wood, hot footed it from Saundersfoot to take second place in two races behind Ted and Lucas in Osprey 1342. Bill and Nan came third in Redwing 228.

Two Cruisers enjoyed the SW3/4 to sail a close race around North High Cliff and Giltar Bouys, Slipstream beating Seren to the line.

Tenby Regatta and Round Caldey Race is on June 13/14.

The regatta is open to a wide range of boats, including dinghies and cruisers, with several races run under handicap formats so different classes can compete together.

The Round Caldey Race is the standout event of the weekend. Boats start off Tenby and sail an anti‑clockwise course around the island.
