Kilgetty 95 for 5
Neyland 83 for 6
Kilgetty Juniors recently played Neyland in the Under 15 league final at St. Ishmaels Cricket Club on a lovely sunny evening.
Neyland won the toss and put Kilgetty into bat on a very slow wicket. Kurt Marsh and Toby Poole opened, with Poole going early to a brilliant one-handed catch.
Jack Parkinson and Marsh held the innings together on a tough track to score quickly when the bowling was of good quality. The two lads managed to score 30-plus each and were backed up at the end, with Jack Tucker and Harry Phillips making the attack look easy with some quickfire hitting to accelerate the innings to 95.
Liam Cullen opened the bowling for Kilgetty with excellent pace and swing, making the Neyland batsmen struggle. He was backed up at the other end with the consistent off-spin of Toby Poole. Both lads took wickets and bowled their four overs for less than 10 runs each. This made Neyland struggle and pressurised the game early.
Kurt Marsh took the wicket of Scott Jones, backed up by Parkinson and Tucker, but Neyland battled away and an excellent knock of 40 by Phil Llewellyn took them up to 83 for 6.
Superb fielding by all the Kilgetty team and a will to succeed saw the villagers worthy winners of the league title for the sixth successive year .
This bunch of lads have now won three Under 11 titles, two Under 13 titles and one Under 15 title, along with the prevous week's win over Llecheryd in the Ormond Plate Final.
All also play regular senior cricket, making Kilgetty a very youthful side and auguring well for the future of the club.
