LILIWEN Thomas has a family history at Trefloyne Golf Club, and now she’s their latest young star to get to the international finals of a major competition.
She turned in some wonderful results last year and they’ve won her an invitation to the USKidsGolf European Championships in Scotland.
Among some fabulous results last year she won her qualifying rounds at Pennard and at Trefloyne to reach the finals of the Wales Golf MiniMasters Tour at Southerndown Golf Club.
It was an amazing achievement just to qualify and represent Trefloyne at the final. But Liliwen went that bit further, and won her 8-and-under category at the finals.

Then in late September Liliwen entered the USKidsGolf Tour, and immediately won the Girls 8-and-Under, at The Gower.
She followed that by topping her section three times in quick succession in October, with wins at The Monmouthshire, Fairwood Park and Bargoed golf clubs.
To round off a fantastic season, Liliwen then played brilliantly at the finals at The Grove, Porthcawl to take the Girls 8-and-under Tour Championship and that opened the door to the next level – the USKidsGolf European Championship.
She’s up to Scotland at the end of May, to Longriddry Golf Course outside Edinburgh, where the best young players from across the UK come together for three days of competition.
Liliwen’s Great-grandfather, Mel Neale, would be so proud. He was a great character – a much-loved Captain at Trefloyne, who supported junior golf and gave the trophy that bears his name, played for at the Trefloyne Junior Open in August.
Perhaps Liliwen’s name will be on that, too?
