Tenby Golf Club were the only Pembrokeshire Club to reach the Welsh Team Championship Finals which took place in Porthmadog last week.

The Porthmadog course in a mix of heathland and links. It is situated to the southern entrance of the Llyn Peninsula and there are views over Cardigan Bay and Snowdonia.

Tenby’s team of five comprised Richard Morton (Captain), Rhys Davies, Dave Morris, Andy Pouton and Paul Haley.

In the first round (32) Tenby beat Padeswood & Buckley by 3 –2 but then lost inRound2 (16) to a strong Conwy side by 4 –1.

The eventual winners were Pyle and Kenfig who have claimed the title on several occasions in recent years.

In Division 2 of the Dyfed League last Sunday, Trefloyne faced Tenby at home.

In the top game, father and son Simon and Finnan Arthur fell by 2 & 1 to Tenby’s Ben Childs and skipper Andy Cope but this was the only rubber which Tenby won.

Ryan Townsend and Ben Palin were fourup after six holes against Nick Thomas and Adam Thomas who fought back strongly but ran out of holes and lost 1 down.

Tom Wright and the inform Aaron Roberts were too strong for Nick Garrod and Paul Jenkins winning 5 and 4.

Barry Dilworth and Glenn Hunter hammered Adam Thorne and Sam Christopher by the same score.

Rhys Johns and Meurig Evans were all square after 11 against Tenby’s Alistair Knibb and Tom Watkins but finished strongly to win 3 and 2.

Jamie Wright and Brinley Hughes had an excellenttussle against Gareth Rhys and Richard Prout before winning 2 & 1.

Randal Day and Julian Edwards stuffed Fin Bowie and Jim Harries by 6 & 5. In the last game, Eifon Price and Roger Handcock were three up after eight against Tenby Club Captain Mick Seal and Glen Smith who clawed back the deficit to claim a half.

Consequently, Trefloyne hammered Tenby by 6.5 to 1.5. The return fixture is on Saturday, August 26.

Last Friday, Tenby Bowling Club hosted Tenby Golf Club in their annual bowls match.

It was another fun evening although every end was competitive.

The Bowls Club eventually ran out narrow winners by 66-60 and claimed the Arthur Ormond Memorial Bowl.
