THE annual Neil Rees Memorial was hosted by Tenby Golf Club on the recent Bank Holiday Monday.

The weather was roasting and, although the greens were a little slower than usual, some excellent scores were posted in all sections.

To qualify to play in most sections, competitors must have played senior rugby for Tenby United RFC. Neil, who sadly died tragically back in 1987, was a tough flanker and a very competent golfer.

In the main section, current player Jack Broadburst and former winner Nicky Allen, who has been captain of both the rugby club and golf club, scored 36pts each.

Another previous champion, Ian Thomas, was one better with 37pts.

However, this years Neil Rees Memorial champion is Morgan Grieve who plays No. 10 for the Athletic. Playing off a handicap of 13, Morgan mustered a fine 40pts.

The Novices Section comprises occasional golfers. Yori Badham, who is now with the Scarlets, and Alistair Wood both came in with 38pts. Danny Henson had 39pts but Sam Hilling handed in a fabulous 44pts which included 28pts on the back nine. He will not be playing off 28 handicap next year.
