Keen athletes - and those with athletic aspirations - will have another chance to test their sporting prowess in a series of mini triathlons this summer.

Following the success of previous years, Pembrokeshire Leisure - the leisure services arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - is organising another series of mini triathlons across the county this summer.

The Go-Tri series, which last year attracted over 450 entrants, is aimed at both first timers and seasoned triathletes and includes a 400m pool swim, a 12.5mile cycle ride and a three-mile run.

Organised together with the Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, the series will kick-off with a warm-up duathlon (cycling and running only) in St. David's this Sunday.

Mini triathlons will then take place in Fishguard on May 25; Crymych, July 20; Milford, August 10, and Haverfordwest on September 21.

"This year's Go-Tri series follows the success of previous years' events," said Clr. Elwyn Morse, cabinet member for leisure.

"Aimed at encouraging people into physical activity by giving them a challenge, they are ideally suited for all sporting abilities from beginners to more experienced athletes," he said.

"People can take part in one - or be brave and take on all four!"

Entrants, who must be 16 or over, will be able to enter as individuals or in teams.

There will be no mini triathlon in Tenby this year due to the planned refurbishment of the leisure centre.

Meanwhile, a series of special Go Tri's for seven to 12-year-olds is also being planned for later this year.
