The Rotary Clubs of Saundersfoot and Tenby recently hosted a dinner at the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn for their two Tenderfoot Disabled Sports Teams to celebrate their achievements during 2015 in winning the Welsh Disabled Sports Team Championships in November at the International Sports Village, Newport, it being the sixth time they have won the Competition in the last seven years.
Out of the 10 competitions which the team participated in, they came first in the boccia and target tennis, with a second place in the table tennis, 2015 proving to be one of the most successful year yet for the teams, which is made up of disabled athletes from throughout Pembrokeshire.
Rotarians from Saundersfoot, Tenby and Narberth and Whitland joined in the celebrations with the two teams, where all participants were recognised for their achievements, no more so than team captain Marion Haymer who received this year’s trophy from president Alan Jones.
Tenderfoot will recommence training for the 2016 season in January and on a monthly basis leading up to next year’s competition where new entrants would be encouraged to participate. Further information about Tenderfoot is available from Rotarian Charles Hopkinson on (01834) 813433.
