TENBY START THE NEW YEAR WITH A WIN

Tenby Under 11s (sponsored by Trade Canvas Prints) started the new year off in style last Saturday with a win over Newport.

The team had not played for a number of weeks due to the Christmas break and wet conditions. However, despite the enforced break, the players certainly made up for lost time and played some great football.

Jack started the scoring with a well-taken goal, only for Rhys to double the lead with a header. Zak then scored the third and turned provider with a neat little lay-off for Brandon to finish. Leo made it five soon after.

With Tenby having a healthy lead, Robbie made his way up the field and was rewarded with a goal of his own. Jacob ensured that the Tenby line wasn’t breached with a cracking save.

Tenby continued to push forward and were again rewarded with more goals from Ollie and Finlay.

Newport battled throughout and got a well deserved goal of their own, making the final score 8-1 to Tenby.

Tenby Under 10s and 12s girls teams kicked-off the first games of the new year after a break over Christmas at a cold and wet Fishguard.

Under 10s: The Under 10s, playing indoors, just carried on from where they left off by winning five games out of six and drawing the other game. They also didn’t concede any goals, while scoring 10, which is a brilliant start to the year.

Under 12s: The Under 12 girls had to play in the freezing cold wind and rain and struggled against the weather as much as the opposition. They managed one win and two draws in the seven games that they played.
