Carew thirds came out on top in the final of the division five cup after their all round skill proved too much for Newport Tigers.
The Rook’s thirds string produced a dominated display to tame the Tigers winning 8-2 in an entertaining, fast paced and at times skilful clash.
Division five it may have been but on occasions both teams dished up a treat for the sizeable crowd with Carew’s players in particular producing moments of magic not least the diministive right back Sean Lewis who produced some thunderous tackles in the second half that nullified any Tigers threats.
Sam Goodwin was also instrumental in the victory, his quality shining through in midfield as his threaded passes up front helped Carew’s strikers dominate.
The headlines though went to Jay Griffiths who finished with a hat-trick after the Tigers failed to deal with his pace, strength and pinpoint finishing.
Luke Hicks was also on fine form finishing with a brace while other goals came from Josh Lewis, the lively Jack Lear and James Worrell.
In league action, Saundersfoot Sports went down 2-1 at Milford United while Monkton Swifts proved too strong for Herbrandston after they beat the visitors 8-0.
The win keeps them top of division one and cements their position as the favourites to lift the league title, which is theirs to lose now.
Ben Steele led the way for Monkton with a hat-trick with others goals coming from Blake James and Dylan Davies who finished with two aiece and James Russell.
Carew remain in third place after a commanding win away at Pennar.
They beat the hosts 5-1 with Sam Southcott grabbing Pennar’s only goal while Jack Christopher scored three for Carew and Sean Whitfield and Jordan Richards the others.
St Clears went down at home to Merlins Bridge losing 6-2 with Steve Thomas and Will Evans scoring for the hosts.
In the second round of the division two cup, Lawrenny lost 2-0 to Hakin seconds but it was better news for Kilgetty after they beat Camrose 7-2.
In league action, Hundleton lost 3-1 at St Ishmaels with Craig Manning scoring the visitors’ only goal
Biggest win of the day went to Carew seconds with a 24-0 win over their counterparts from Solva.
The home teams showed no mercy on the visitors scoring goals at such regular intervals it would have been difficult to keep count of who scored what and when.
Somebody managed to though with Carl Thomas netting six, Haydn Shapcott five, Harvey Langstone, Herbie Haggar three each and Aaron Hinman two.
The other goals were scored by Morgan Broomhall, Sam Harts, Neilson Cole, Tom Arthur and Jacob Know
At Jesse Road, Narberth seconds lost 5-2 against Monkton Swifts’ seconds as Wayne Boswell scored two alongside goals from Luke Hendry and Jordan Kilby while Ashley Williams and Karl Jones scored for Narberth.
Phil John scored twice for Pembroke Boro although his goals couldn’t prevent them going down 4-2 against Goodwick United seconds while it was a good day for Pendine after they beat St Florence 4-1.
St Florence’s goal was scored through an own goal while Connor Bowen scored twice for the Gulls together with goals from Jack Haley and Damien Lewis.
Second biggest win of the day went to Pennar Robins’ seconds after they beat St Clears’ seconds 23-0.
Amazingly no-one scored a hat-trick although Carl Rees, Phil Hay, Alex Lewis, Josh Watts, Jack Phillips, Nial Brunton, Will Culshaw, Connor Willis and Jack Sutherland all scored twice, the other goals coming from Dan Powers, Ceri Griffiths, Jack Clark, Connor Morgan and MArk Reid.
In division four the game between Camrose seconds and Kilgetty seconds was postponed after Kilgetty failed to raise a side while Cosheston beat Llangwm/ H’west CC 5-3 thanks to scored by Gavin Wiskland, Bernie Schilke an own goal and a Lee Duignan brace.
A win for Hundleton seconds after they beat Pembroke Boro 6-1 thanks to a Sam Blunsden hat-trick, a Connor Hay brace and a Rowan Jenkins goal while in division five, Lawrenny seconds lost to Milford Athletic seconds 4-1 and Saundersfoot lost to Letterston seconds 5-4 after a Sam Reeve brace and solitary strikes from Gareth Howells and Russell Evans.
