HAKIN United moved three points clear at the top of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One table after they beat Carew 8-1 on Saturday and champions Goodwick United were held to a draw at Tenby United.
The Vikings notched their seventh win in eight league outings despite playing all of the second half with 10 men after Ben Aldred was sent for an early shower on 36 minutes after preventing a goal with a save on the goal line.
Carew’s Jordan Richards had the opportunity to give his side a foothold in the game but he blazed the spot kick over the bar.
By that time Hakin were three goals to the good at the Gerald Hicks Memorial Ground after Leon Luby scored a 15-yarder after two minutes, quickly followed by a couple of Jack Griffiths headers.
The 10 men then went on to make it 4-0 at the break when Cameron Brunton found the bottom corner from the edge of the area in added on time.
Luby made it 5-0 from the penalty spot just before the hour mark, picking himself up after being taken down in the box.
Brunton bagged his brace moments later before substitute Shaun Walsh brought up number seven on 70 minutes.
Rhys Lewis made also made an impact off the bench to net a consolation for the Rooks but Hakin had the final say, Kieran King with a far-post tap-in.
Tenby’s Lloyd Hughes netted a late equaliser to give his side a point after an entertaining clash against champions Goodwick United ended 3-3 at The Clicketts.
Tenby finished the game with nine men after Richard Hughes was red carded for a heavy challenge on 50 minutes and Scott Ferney was handed a second caution. The visitors also finished the game a man short after Rhys Dalling saw red on the half hour.
Tenby twice took the lead in the first half through Ferney and Joe Leahy with Jake Smith and then Ross Jones equalising for the champs.
Rhys Jones missed a penalty for Goodwick on the hour but made amends with a stunning 30-yard free kick five minutes later.
But Hughes had the last laugh with a 90th minute header past Goodwick keeper James Gwilt.
Kilgetty also scored a very late equaliser in a match that also finished 3-3 against visitors Pennar Robins.
Pennar thought they had done enough to take the spoils when Toby Davies fired them 3-2 ahead in the 93rd minute but Henry Lawrence got on the end of a clipped free kick into the danger area to nick a point.
Pennar led 1-0 at the break courtesy of a Kieran Smith 30-yard cracker and doubled their advantage four minutes into the second half, Davies with his first of the afternoon and another fine finish which gave Kurtis Marsh no chance in goal.
Rhys Hewson and Lawrence dragged them back into the game before the final flurry of goals.
Monkton Swifts were in an uncompromising mood with 12 unanswered goals against visitors Narberth, Paul Miller leading the way with a hat-trick.
He was joined on the scoresheet by Luke Phillips (2), Jason Finnegan (2), James Russell (2), Connor Davies, Dylan Davies and Jamie Wilkes.
Claberston Road eased to a 3-0 win at Fishguard Sport, Emyr Griffiths, Ben John and Jack Ashman sealing the win.
