Felinfoel 76 pts.

Tenby United 35

With no less than 10 regular players out of action through Bank Holiday work commitments or injuries, G. D. Harries, FBM Holidays, Kiln Park, Andrew Price and Molson Coors-sponsored Tenby United were expecting a hard afternoon against third placed Felinfoel. and despite scoring five tries themselves and dominating the forward battle, a long and hard afternoon was what they got.

The Seasiders started strongly and began to dominate possession and win the battle up front which meant they were able to pin their hosts in their own 22 metre area for long periods of time. but despite them pounding away at the home defence they couldn't quite break them down enough to score.

Felinfoel managed to break free, and when they moved the ball away from the strong Tenby pack, they looked dangerous and came away from their first visit into the United's half with a penalty from the boot of outside half Aled Roberts.

Tenby's pack took control again soon after though, and with the forwards again putting their hosts under sustained pressure, and looking the fitter pack in the hot Carmarthenshire sunshine, they soon managed to cross the line for a well deserved try which was scored by Andrew Cooke, who usually plays flanker, but had to slot in on the right wing due to back shortages.

Cooke's try was converted by left wing Jimmy Davies and the veteran didn't miss with the boot all afternoon.

Roberts landed a long range penalty for Felinfoel before his side lost two players to yellow cards due to persistent infringements.

The Seasiders took full advantage of this in the next 10 minutes and managed two well worked tries.

The first one came when youth fullback Luke Hartland broke away from the Tenby try line and made good ground before keeping the ball alive and getting it away to centre Jordan Asparassa who made it well into Felinfoel territory before linking with strong running lock Luke Dedman who also made good yards before he sent prop Rob Luly in for the touch down.

Davies landed the conversion before the Seasiders struck again.

This time is was a fine running angle from stand-in outside half Jack Guerreiro that gave open side flanker Luke Hansford the space he needed to canter in for the first of his brace of tries which Davies converted, giving United a 21 points to six lead.

The home side found their stride going into the last 10 minutes of the first half though which was assisted by the Seasiders losing prop Clark to injury and Guerreiro to a controversial yellow card, and they managed to narrow the gap to just one point going into half-time after scoring two converted tries of their own.

Felinfoel came out of the break a totally different side and had been made aware by their coaching team that if they managed to keep the ball away from the dominant Tenby pack, then they might be able to take the makeshift backs on and find space out wide.

This they did, and it worked as their slick and well drilled backline ran in eight tries between the 41st and 71st minute to put the game out of Tenby's reach. Aled Roberts landed all eight conversions and couldn't seem to put a foot wrong.

With the Seasiders never rolling over and fighting to the bitter end, they were rewarded with a try bonus point of their own.

They knew the game was too far gone for the win, but the Seasiders had the presence of mind to know that they could add to their chances of staying in Division One West, and through playing to their strengths in that they were fitter and stronger up front than Felinfoel.

Hansford was soon crossing for his second try and the three would-be defenders weren't going to stop him earning his side the much-needed bonus point.

His effort was soon followed by a well-worked try which was scored by powerful No 8 Rob Weston who smashed his way over for the Seasiders' fifth of the game.

Davies added both conversions and the final whistle went with Felinfoel running out comfortable winners by 76 points to 35.

Despite the heavy score line, the Seasiders showed character in not giving up and hunting down the important bonus point which could prove vital as they enter the last three weeks of the season.
