After an experiment of one season, the County Club Executive Committee has decided to restore the Harrison-Allen Bowl final to its traditional time and it will be played at Cresselly on Saturday, August 1, next season.

This decision will be welcomed by the majority of cricketers as it will allow all league teams four matches after that date to compete for championship and promotion issues or to avoid relegation.

It will also be welcomed by the Cresselly groundstaff as it is easier to prepare pitches earlier in August and clubs such as Narberth, where the town carnival is usually held on the same date as the cricket final.

Last season, when Narberth Seconds were home to Kilgetty on the same day as the carnival, some members of the public ran the risk of being injured from a cricket ball. Fortunately it was incident free, but it is always dangerous to have non cricketers on the edge of the boundary, not watching the cricket.

Cup cricket dates to note are set out below:

Duggie Morris Cup Final - Sunday July 19; Alec Colley Cup semi-finals - Sunday July 26; Ormond Youth Cup Plate Final - Friday evening, July 31 (one innings only); Harrison-Allen Bowl Final - Saturday, August 1; Alec Colley Cup Final - Sunday, August 16; Ormond Youth Cup Final - Sunday, August 30; Jubilee Cup - Sunday, September 6.

Cricket Coaches AGM

The annual general meeting of the Pembrokeshire Association of Cricket Coaches will be held at Cresselly Cricket Club on Monday, November 17, with a 7.15 pm start.

Club coaches and team managers will be able to attend the meeting, whether current members of the association or not.

There are no vacancies for offices, so coaches and team managers will not be press-ganged into taking up any position within the association.

Officers of the association would welcome everyone who is involved in cricket coaching in any shape or form at the meeting.
