Two Pembrokeshire College students are currently flying the flag for Team Wales at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.
Level 3 Sport students Lleucu George and James Tomlinson are competing with 39 other Team Wales athletes in the challenging tournaments which include women’s rugby sevens, swimming, athletics, boxing, judo and tennis.
Lleucu, of Clarbeston Road, has been selected to play for women’s rugby sevens and James, of Pembroke Dock, will compete in athletics.
Both students are highly talented in their sport, with James being ranked first in Europe and third in the world for Under 18s discus.
Lleucu has already experienced many successes playing women’s cricket, rugby for Under 18s Scarlets and training for the Under 17s Rugby World Cup!
Pembrokeshire College sports lecturer, Kevin Hopkins, congratulated the students on their selection and enthused: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Lleucu and James to showcase their talent so early on in their sporting career! They are extremely pleased to be representing Wales at such a prestigious event.”
