Kidwelly 27 pts.Whitland 19

Despite taking the lead in this fixture against top-of-the-table Kidwelly, and working hard right until the end, the Borderers were unable to overcome the hosts.

Jack Mason has been in outstanding form of late for Whitland and the livewire flanker added two more tries to his tally against Kidwelly - but still finished up on the losing side as Kidwelly completed the double, having won at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn by 24-20.

The visitors went ahead with hooker Marc Jones crossing for an unconverted try, before Kidwelly took control of the game with tries from second row Richard Davies and hooker Christian Cullen. Fly-half Steffan Marshall converted both efforts.

Whitland flanker Jack Mason then nipped in for his first try of the match, converted by Johnny Thomas, to cut the deficit, but before the break, Marshall kicked a penalty to give the hosts a 17-12 lead at the interval.

Whitland took the game to their opponents in the second half, but were unable to convert pressure into points, before Kidwelly centre Andrew Francis put his side further ahead with a try, again converted by Marshall.

The Borderers kept on fighting until the end and Mason grabbed his second try, converted by Thomas, but it was not enough.
