Saundersfoot Ladies 3 pts. Tenby Arches Ladies 3
Tenby Arches ladies’ away fixture was played on a lovely summer’s evening last Tuesday at Saundersfoot. It was just a week before that the Arches ladies won their home fixture against Saundersfoot, but playing away would be a greater challenge.
The game finished with both teams winning one rink apiece and with a tied shot count of 30, the game was drawn, with three league points going to both sides.
Alison’s rink of Meryl, Liz and Jo were drawn against Ceris and her ladies. The game was evenly contested throughout, but a count of three shots on the last end secured a win for the Saundersfoot rink by 16 shots to 14.
Helen with Margaret, Jan and Gerry in support were up against Steph’s quartet. The Arches ladies got off to a great start and found themselves 11 shots ahead with six ends to go, but their fortunes changed somewhat as Steph’s rink got back into the game, winning all the remaining ends, but the nine shots won fell short of what was required and so it was the Tenby rink that held on to win by 16 shots to 14.
A draw overall was a fair result for the Tenby Arches ladies, who are sponsored by Tenby House Hotel.
Tenby Arches Ladies 4 pts. St. Issell’s 2
Tenby Bowling Club was the setting for the Arches ladies game against St. Issell’s ladies on a rather dismal Wednesday afternoon in summer. As the ladies left the green so the rain came, but not before the Arches ladies had wrapped up another win by 42 shots to 27.
Alison skipped the rink of Liz, Katie and Jan, who were all in great form. Such was the dominance of the Arches ladies, with a special mention going to young Katie Dickinson, that they restricted the St. Issell’s rink, skipped by Beryl, to winning just five ends. The game finished with a 25 shots to eight victory for Alison’s rink.
Helen skipped the rink of Margaret, Meryl and Gerry and looked to be in control of the game at the midway stage, but a fightback by Sue and her team turned the game around, collecting 13 shots in six ends to run out victors 19 shots to 17.
The four league points won consolidates third position for the Arches ladies, who are sponsored by Tenby House Hotel.
