Last week, Tenby Arches ladies completed their league season with home games against Milford Haven and a rearranged match with Pembroke Dock Park. The penultimate game against Milford was close throughout and could have gone either way, but the Arches let it slip in the last few ends, going down by 43 shots to 40 and picking up just the two points for a rink win. With nothing at stake, the Arches ladies' final game was played in a relaxed, but competitive manner against Pembroke Dock Park. The Arches triumphed in this game, completing the season on a high by winning by 48 shots to 23 and collecting all six league points. It was a difficult introduction to the season for captain Carol Lloyd, with many players unavailable due to other commitments. She initially found it hard to get eight ladies on the green for some games, but everyone rallied round and the team went on to finish in a creditable fifth place with 70 points. The Tenby Arches ladies are a mixture of characters with varying personalities, strengths and weaknesses, but as a team they are one. The team includes the forgetful teapot lady, the infectious laugher, the occasional moaner (but in a nice way), the competitive stalwart who will always measure a close shot, twinkle toes, the forgetful, Olive oil, the camera shy and, of course, we had Ginnie Beeken. Ginnie has been a club member for many years, her name was always top of the list for league and friendly games, club competitions and 'county' tours. We are sorry to be losing Ginnie, who is moving from Tenby to be with her family in Cambridge. Good luck Ginnie, we will all miss you. To round off the season, the ladies all got together at the Dragon Palace in Pentlepoir last Sunday to celebrate the end of another busy outdoor bowling year. Captain Carol thanked everyone for their help and support in this her first year at the helm and presented Ginnie with a going away gift from the ladies and members of Tenby Bowling Club.
