PEMBROKE DOCK LADIES 6 pts TENBY ARCHES LADIES 0
Tenby Arches ladies travelled to Pembroke Dock last Thursday to play the league leaders on their own green and what a game this turned out to be! With the match played in glorious sunshine, no one could have predicted the winner at 18 ends, but it was the Arches ladies who eventually lost by 36 shots to 29, with Pembroke Dock collecting all six league points. At 11 ends, the Tenby Arches ladies were up overall by 21 shots to 12, but last year's champions fought back well in the second half. Alison, sporting her Aussie hat, had great support from Margaret, Meryl (with a damp towel covering her head) and Helen, and they found themselves level at 17 ends. However, the Pembroke Dock rink, skipped by Diana Davis, finished the stronger, picking up seven shots to two, so securing an 18 shots to 13 victory. Gerry's rink of Liz, Ginnie and Audrey were all playing well and found themselves ahead by six shots at tea. The Pembroke Dock rink fought back, winning five consecutive ends to get back to 16-all at 19 ends. On the last end, the Arches ladies were holding five shots, but with victory in sight, a match-winning bowl was delivered by Pembroke Dock skip Betty James to snatch a win by 18 shots to 16. The Arches ladies left Pembroke Dock disappointed, having played so well throughout, only to have lost on both rinks in the last few ends. HAVERFORDWEST TASKER LADIES 0 TENBY ARCHES LADIES 6 pts
With the disappointment of their last game defeat behind them, the Tenby Arches ladies travelled to Haverfordwest on Saturday hoping for a win to boost their confidence. They certainly did this, beating both Haverfordwest Tasker rinks and picking up the maximum six points. Helen and her rink of Meryl, Audrey and Gerry were in fine form, winning by 27 shots to 17 and were never behind in the game. Alison, minus her Aussie hat on this occasion, was supported by Liz, Ginnie and Mair. Like Helen, on the rink alongside her, the girls were never behind, running out comfortable winners by 27 shots to 14. This was a great confidence boosting win, to get maximum points and to win by 54 shots to 37 at Haverfordwest must go down as one of the best performances of the season?
