St. Ishmaels 1 Narberth 5
Narberth remain third in the Division One table after a comfortable 5-1 win at St. Ishmaels last Saturday. Prior to kick-off, a heavy mist put the game in doubt, but both sides were happy that the game was able to go ahead, in order to avoid a fixture pile-up further down the line.
It was half-an-hour before Narberth broke the deadlock. Adi Jones drove the ball into the top corner from 25 yards out. Tish goalkeeper Jonathan Pawlett produced a wonder save, as he pushed a Kyle Quartermaine header onto the post.
Narberth continued to press and had a penalty claim turned away, after Jamie Fleig went down in the area. Two minutes before the break and Narberth scored their second goal. Dorian Davies crossed and Jordan Williams headed the ball past Pawlett in the Tish goal.
Narberth goalkeeper John Durbridge had been a virtual spectator in the first half, but that wasn't the case in the second half and on the hour mark, Tish were back in the game. Shaun Standan raced clear in a one-on-one with Durbridge and, although the 'keeper saved Standan's initial effort, Narberth failed to clear the danger and Standan lofted the ball into the top corner.
However, Tish were not back in the game for long, as shortly afterwards, Narberth substitute and player/manager Matthew Price crossed for Jordan Williams to make it 3-1.
Narberth continued to press and Jordan Williams claimed his hat-trick after beating a couple of players before firing past Pawlett at his near post.
Narberth's Tony Evans had a goal disallowed and Matthew Price had a shot cleared off the line before Ashley Williams scored with two minutes remaining to complete the scoring.
Last night (Thursday), Narberth played Goodwick at Jesse Road andtomorrow (Saturday), they visit West Dragons, kick-off 2.30 pm.
