The National Gardens Scheme has been in existence for over 80 years and is known for its beautiful gardens open to the public in England and Wales and for the funds it raises for charity. Support the National Gardens Scheme this Sunday, April 27, and visit Upton Castle. Take a delightful morning or afternoon stroll round the 35 acres of garden within the grounds of Upton Castle which dates from the 13th century. Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Barlow, you will see that a lot of restoration has been done recently, indicated by new paths and much pruning and clearing. The garden is delightful and your walk will include the formal walled rose garden, long herbaceous borders, a separat Victorian walled kitchen garden, an arboretum and a woodland walk leading down to an estuary of the Carew river. There is also a 13th century chapel. Specially for the day, home-made teas will be served from late morning onwards. Upton Castle can be found off the A477 between Carew and Pembroke Dock. Follow the brown signs through Cosheston. The gardens are open from 10 am - 4.30 pm and admission is £3. There is some wheelchair access and a car park.
