'The Big Draw' is the UK's biggest annual free art event, which is a celebration of drawing held at museums, galleries, science and environment centres, on heritage sites and in other cultural settings. It is a chance to experiment, explore and engage with new materials, and budding artists should have no problem finding something to draw at the National Trust's Colby.
Between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm, visitors of all ages will be invited to let their imagination run wild and have a go at using the provided materials, pencils and clay, as well as natural material found in the woodland, such as leaves, seeds and wood to create their unique masterpiece. There will be plenty of inspiration from the beautiful areas of the garden from the dramatic autumn colours and exotic fauna to the wooded pathways that wind through the valley. Helpers will be on hand to give advice and encouragement.
Steve Whitead, Colby's gardener said: "We are really looking forward to this exciting event. You don't need to be an expert to join in, it's all about having fun, and bringing people of all ages to draw. We hope to display the work of all who have taken part after the event. It just goes to show that the National Trust is more than the guardian of historic buildings in Wales, we provide fun days out for all the family."
Colby Woodland Garden is open daily until October 30, and there is no additional charge to join in 'The Big Draw'.
