Last Saturday the club hosted the inaugural Tenby versus Saundersfoot series of dinghy races held in the vicinity of Monkstone Point. The racing was keen and very close, with Tenby winning the series by just two points. The evening was rounded off by a superb barbecue prepared by Ruth Tebbutt in the absence of the legendary Terry Evans. Many thanks also to Mike Stace and Deanna Morton for their invaluable help. Sunday's cruise in company was an outstanding success, with a plethora of yachts participating as well as the usual ribs. The choice of Swanlake Bay as the port of call was applauded by all. Many thanks to cruiser captain John Griffiths for leading the way. Whilst at Swanlake Bay, the participants were treated to one of Terry Evans's superlative barbecues. Many thanks to Karin Morris for her invaluable assistance. All agreed that the day had been most successful. Tenby junior Tommy D'Ortez attended the recent Welsh Schools Regatta at Mumbles. Considering the very large field, Tommy came a very encouraging seventh. Tommy continues to 'move up the ranks' in Welsh sailing and will soon be a regular part of the Welsh team. Watch this space. Tomorrow (Saturday) the club is hosting the CYRC event which sees a large number of junior sailors descend on Tenby. Very often the junior sailing is far more 'cut-throat' than the senior fraternity. Race officer Blake Shaw will have to be alert, especially at the starts. Racing as usual this Sunday and next Wednesday.
