Saundersfoot Communty Council are looking for volunteers to join a ‘graveyard shift’ to help with some upkeep at the seaside village’s cemetery.
The Communitty Council recently became the second in the locality to trial a new eco-friendly way of managing overgrown areas, by deploying bio-goats to tackle overgrowth at St Issell’s Church.
“As you may know, the goats made fantastic progress clearing the brambles and undergrowth in St Issell’s cemetery — but there’s still more to do!” shared Saundersfoot Community Council on social media.
“Later this month, the next stage of clearance will take place (this time with humans and machines ) - but we also need a gentler touch around some of the gravestones.
“That’s where you can help. On Monday, September 15 and Saturday, September 20, we’ll be meeting at St Issell’s Church at 2pm to carefully tend to some of the gravestones — many of which haven’t been visible for years.
“What to bring - gloves, secateurs or shears, and sturdy shoes/boots (no power tools please). What you’ll get - the satisfaction of doing something really worthwhile, a good bit of fresh air and exercise, and yes, refreshments too!
“If you’d love to help but can’t make the September dates, don’t worry — there will be ongoing maintenance opportunities. Just drop us a line at [email protected]
“Come along, lend a hand, and be part of helping to preserve this important piece of our village’s history,” they added.
