A Christmas message from the Mayor of Tenby, Cllr Dai Morgan...

“As Christmas approaches, I’ve found myself thinking not just about the season itself, but about the people who make Tenby feel like home. Being Mayor is an honour, but what truly inspires me every day is the spirit of the community I’m privileged to serve.

“Tenby isn’t just a place on the map, it’s a network of people who care deeply for one another, and that is something incredibly special.

“I would like to offer my deepest thanks to those who work tirelessly to keep us safe and well, especially during the festive period. Our emergency services along with our dedicated health and care workers, continue to serve our community with professionalism, compassion, and courage. Many will be working throughout Christmas, away from their own families, to support ours. We owe them our deepest gratitude.

“Over this past year, I’ve had the chance to speak with so many of you, on our streets, in our shops, at community events, or simply in passing. Time and time again, I’ve been moved by the stories you’ve shared, stories of families supporting each other through illness, neighbours stepping in when someone was struggling, volunteers giving their time quietly and without recognition.

“These moments often go unnoticed, but they are the heartbeat of our town. They remind me that while we may face challenges, some of them heavy, we never have to face them alone.

“We’ve all felt the weight of difficult times recently, in one way or another. Some of us have experienced loss, some have felt the strain of rising costs, some have battled illness or loneliness.

“Yet even in these moments, I’ve seen Tenby at its best. I’ve seen people delivering food parcels to those who can’t get out. I’ve seen local groups check in on vulnerable residents. I’ve seen simple acts like a warm conversation, a lift into town, or an invitation for a cuppa make a world of difference.

“That is what makes our community extraordinary, when one of us stumbles, the rest of us instinctively reach out a hand.

“Christmas gives us a chance to pause and appreciate that. It’s a moment to recognise not just the joy and celebration, but the quiet strength that binds us together. So if this season is difficult for you, I want you to know this sincerely, you are part of this community, and you matter. There are people here who care, who will listen, and who will stand beside you.

“As we move into a new year, my hope is that we continue to look out for one another in the same generous, open-hearted way we always have. Let’s carry forward the warmth, the compassion, and the resilience that define Tenby. Let’s celebrate our achievements, support those who need a little extra strength, and keep building a town where everyone feels they belong.

“Thank you for your kindness, your patience, your humour, and your unwavering community spirit. You make Tenby the remarkable place it is.

“From my heart to yours, on behalf of all Tenby Town Councillors and staff, I wish you a peaceful, hopeful, and joyful Christmas, and a New Year filled with brighter days.”
