The latest round of the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock LVA quiz league produced a couple of surprises and close results, the first coming at the Naval Club where the home team lost a close encounter with the side from St. Govan's who managed to sneak away with a two point victory.

Down at the Station, the visiting second placed Charlton A would have been pre-match favourites to beat the home A team, but from round one lagged just a couple of points behind.

They managed to claw five points back in round four and got to the final question in the last round needing a six pointer to win. Unfortunately, the name of the Beatles second record label eluded both teams so the home side ran out five-point winners.

This let in third placed Station B who travelled to play the Alma A and came away with the win that takes them up to second place in the league six points behind the leaders Alma B who had the bye.

The Charlton B side finally got their season under way again with a comfortable 10-point win, and the top score of the evening, over the visiting Oak.

In the final match of the night, Cosh Brewery convincingly beat the Con Club.

The questionsetters were the First and Last and after this latest round of matches, the Alma B lead by six points from the Station B, with just three point separating the next six teams and the next round being the half-way stage of the league, so all is still to play for.

Results for the week were: Charlton B 84 Oak 74; Naval Club 66 St. Govan's 68; Cosh Brewery 74 Con Club 59; Station A 77 Charlton A 72; Alma A 66 Station B 83; Alma B bye.
