PEOPLE in Pembroke Dock cannot fail to have noticed an increase in dog mess around the town recently - something which has been spotted by the town’s Pink Poo Club.
The Pink Poo Club is community campaign helping to create cleaner streets, and greener public areas. Volunteers work to highlight dog fouling with pink spray paint, encourage responsible dog ownership, litter picks and promote community pride.
The Pink Poo Club aims for cleaner streets, greener spaces and stronger community in Pembroke Dock.
The town’s latest problem areas for dog fouling include the waterside walk on Front Street, the Bush Street pavement beside the football field and outside Jumping Beans childcare centre.
Backed by Cllr Claire Francis-Boswell, the club has drawn attention to the Bush Street and Jumping Beans areas as these busy routes are used by children, families, prams and mobility scooters.
The Pink Poo Club has issued Bush Estate dog fouling alert, with a “your dog, your responsibility” message urging owners to “pick it up, bag it, bin it,” while thanking responsible owners who help keep the community clean.
“Bush Estate is a family-friendly community. Irresponsible dog owners are not welcome,” states the poster which reminds owners to carry bags, pick up every time and use a suitable bin or take it home.
It’s important to remember that dog poo can contain harmful parasites, and contaminated soil can cause toxocariasis - a rare infection that can damage eyesight. The best policy is to pick it up promptly, and wash hands after contact and before eating.
You can report hotspots or witnessed incidents to Pembrokeshire County Council by emailing [email protected] . Include the exact location, date and time, and a description of the dog and owner if witnessed. Only take photos if it’s safe to do so.
